Billed as 'the world's greatest paranormal detective', Hellboy is big, red and definitely from another dimension. Summoned by the Nazis at the end of World War II, Hellboy turns out to be a force for good in the world, although he could have been swayed one way or the other. His right hand is made of some strange material that is just about indestructable, hence his nickname 'the Right Hand of Doom', and he keeps his broken horns neatly filed. His apartment is the typical bachelor pad, with half-eaten pizzas and unwashed clothes, and he is a bit of a romantic at heart.
Big-hearted, cynical, with a nice line in dry humour, he's not a fella (demon?) you rub up the wrong way because he has one helluva temper ... oh, and he's a rotten shot with his gun, 'The Samaritan'.But, if you can get over the fact he's a demon, he's just a regular guy who likes a cigar and would happily buy you a beer.

Playing Hellboy's good friend and partner is Doug Jones, immensely talented actor and real nice guy. Doug's previous work includes 'Men in Black II', 'Adaptation' and 'The Time Machine', and he has recently completed another film with Guillermo - the much anticipated 'Pan's Labyrinth' in which he plays the title role of 'Pan.' Czech actor whose scene-stealing performance as the cold-blooded lawyer in Guillermo del Toro's 'Blade II' assured him of international recognition, returns to work with del Toro as the evil 'Rasputin'.
