A
self-made man, boxing promoter Nick Everson has a good eye for a deal
and is a ruthless businessman. He knows what he wants, and will do what
has to be done to get it. But underneath that hard-bitten exterior there
is a hint of decency that Nick tries his damndest to hide. A lover of
smart apparel and good Cuban cigars, Nick has never hidden his poor background,
his accent still redolent with Brooklyn overtones.

Lord
Morton (The King's Guard, 2000)
An
aristocratic thief, Lord Morton goes after his booty with ruthless determination
- in this case, a fortune in gold. His motley band of footpads and robbers
follow him more through fear than loyalty, as he is not averse to shooting
them out of hand for perceived mistakes. Not the world's greatest organiser,
he seems to be nevertheless fairly successful, as he is well-dressed and
armed and he has a few wenches around to keep him amused.

Charles
Burden Senior (The Trial of Old Drum, 2000)

1950s Missouri, widower Charles raises his young son Charlie and runs
his small farm. Good-hearted and intelligent, Charles helps his son face
up to bullies and enjoy the innocence of childhood without hiding him
from the realities of life. His son's best friend is their dog, Drum,
and when Drum is accused of killing sheep Charles does everything he can
to prove the dog's innocence. Meanwhile, he shyly courts the lovely editor

to steal a famous necklace, copy it, keep the original and sell the copy
to a collector. But unfortunately Morgan's not the brightest of thieves
